Default Morris C8

Hi everybody just new to this forum, I have restored two Austin Champs and recently sold one. I now have "Fugly" 1944 Morris C8 GS 2283033 which I purchased in Inverell NSW, I reside in Hervey Bay QLD. Grateful for any information anyone can give me on this vehicle and I hope to post some pictures as I get used to the system.

Hi Paul,
Welcome to MLU, you are a real glutton for punishment...
Better post some pics of the Morris though.
Good to hear from you again.
Rich.

Great to hear from you Paul, hope you got a decent price for your Champ.

I thought restoring a Humber was tough. Am looking forward to some pics of your new restoration project.

Cheers,

Dave.

Hello Richard and yes I will get some pictures done this week I hope, I sold the champ for $13,500 which on reflection was too cheap as it was a good resto. Just got Fugly in the shed and started to re-do the tray as the rest is in good order and nothing to demanding to do,keep you guys posted

Hello Paul, Humber is going fine just waiting on tyres and the warmer months to start painting again. Your pictures did not come out at least for me, you may have to try again. Are you in Tassie next year? A long way for you to travel but well worth it. If you are we will see you then and we can share restoration stories and a bit of that nice Tassie Pale Ale.
Dave.

Two photos work for me Paul, not exactly as curvaceous as your last projects....Big change in design and shape in less then a decade.

Dave where are you getting your tyes from? I am looking for some 9.00x 16, there is a guy near you with four 9.00 x 16 but not sure what condition they are in. Not going to Tassie as we are going to Canada mid year so money tight, the old girl keeps eating so money scarse. Hope to get to Corowa driving all the way in the champ, couple of guys in MJCQ doing it too.
Rich after so much trouble with the bonnet of the first champ I am glad of straight lines. Bit strange working with timber though, the front drive nuckle's are very much like the champs front & back drive chain.

Where's Ryan, he had some 900.16, think they ended up on E-Bay recently?

900 x 16 non directional lugbar tyres are fairly easy to source from any tyre dealer. The 900 x 20 non directional tyres in the tread pattern I required are a lot harder to source I got mine from Antique Tyres in Melbourne 03 9458 4433 and they are getting them from COKER tyres USA. The problem being is I have to wait 16 weeks to get them. Check out the Coker web site.

Hope this assists, the truck looks good, nice straight lines.

Default Morris C8

Been doing a bit of carpentry and thought I would post some pictures, I have installed some side supports since the pictures were taken and now in the process of sealing the timber ready for paint. Will post some on completion of paint prior to making the tailgate, need some hinges which I hope to purchase at Gympie swap this Saturday.

Paul, thinking about your quest for some tailgate hinges, do you have a picture of them? I have a set of spare Humber hinges which may do the trick.

Dave.

Default Hinges

Thanks Dave I got three hinges which have suited the tailgate very nicely, they cost $1 each at Gympie swap. I had to modify the gudgeon pins to fit but all worked out in the end. Just have to fit the canvas stay's today I hope, I had them from my first champ restoration(why they came with the champ is any ones guess) and as always never throw anything away. Next job is the hoops for the canvas.

Default Canvas Cover

Does any one know where I can purchase the canvas cover that goes over the gear stick/ gearbox filler and starter in the cab of the C8? It's to far to take it to the guy that normally does my canvas and I have made inquiry's in the UK at Worthings and the London bomb disposal team. Will have to take some update photos tomorrow if I get a chance as the hoops for the canvas are finished, looks good.
