I'll take two, here's my penny!

In all seriousness, how would one go exporting a Deac from the UK to Canada (or elsewhere)? I had heard that Home Office approval is required and there is difficulty in finding a carrier that will freight them due to the post 9/11 repercussions on carting unaccompanied firearms (Especially something that was once a full-auto MG)internationally. If the shipper routes the consignment through the US at all, then BATF regs come into the equation and US State Dept approval is also req'd, even for transiting. And aren't the rules about Deac's in Canada that they must "grandfathered" from the old rules?

Default NO deacts from Europe

Canada customs will seize all deacts from England.

You have to buy in Canada. Or bring it in to Canada the naughty way.....very bad man....

Default Some dis-assembly required.....

what happens if you take a weapon apart and ship one item at a time over a period of weeks......

The reciever portion might be the only sensitive part.......

US gun magazine are constantly advertising MG or semi-auto sold in parts...... is that the reason.....

Of course in Canada if you carve out a revolver in a bar of soap you now have a restricted weapon........

The importing of full auto kits from the US is a double edged sword. You would technically need an export permit from the US, which an individual would never get approved, and you would need an import permit here in Canada. Sending one (or a few) pieces at a time increases your chances of getting caught. Seems like nowadays, Canada customs spots contraband like gun parts and lets the parcel go through, with the police waiting to pick you up once the parcel is in your posession, or else visiting your home later with a warrant. Full auto parts are controlled for import under the directorate of controlled goods.

As Adame mentioned, forget about bringing in full dewats from anywhere either. Between Canada customs and the CFC, they have created a catch 22 situation that is near impossible to satisfy.

With these two options closed, the price of Bren dewats is high and getting higher here in Canada. Expect to pay $900 minimum for a decent example, and up to $1300 for a good example. I paid over that for a Chinese script 8mm Bren a few years ago, but it was a very unique and exc condition gun.
