A very good home made movie.

Of course they were not the first fighters in New Guinea. 75 Squadron Australian Air Force were there and during the 44 days before the American fighters arrived, the Australians flying P40 Kittyhawks were almost completely wiped out.

Several books but a recent one called "44 Days" is very good. Brave people going to their death but the squadron management was absolutely hopeless.

Default TV doco

I recall watching a TV doco hosted by Geoffrey Robertson the human rights lawyer... his father was a pilot on 75 squadron

Hi Mike, I just been up to Milne Bay and Rabaul on a P&O cruise very interesting place and the islands around are pretty primitive seen as we are only a 1000km away.
Visited the museums and war memorials etc.

I suppose all the Yanks were referring to Milne Bay as Milnie Bay. I've never heard it pronounced that way before.
