RAAF WW2 vehicle markings
I have got a CMP derrick truck model to finish and would like to do the markings as an RAAF truck similar to the AWM photo below (neg # OG0626) which has the caption..... "KIRIWINA, TROBRIAND ISLANDS, PAPUA. 1944-01-31. INSIDE THE HANGAR OF NO. 12 REPAIR AND SALVAGE UNIT RAAF, BEHIND THE BATTLE LINE, WHERE A SPITFIRE AIRCRAFT OF NO. 79 SQUADRON RAAF IS BEING REPAIRED. "
Can anyone tell me what markings would have been put on the truck including location and colors? Here is a picture of the model so far. This has been base painted in Australian Post 1942 Service Green but still needs detailing.

Is the wheelbase on the model correct? It looks to be a C60L in the AWM pic.

The wheelbase of the model is correct for type but the photo shows the C60S derrick body on a C60L chassis. This is why you can see a large gap between the cab and body in the photo.
Hmm two posts to my question and still no answers on RAAF markings. Just shows that the RAAF can't be popular at all

The current RAAF vehicles continue the same blocks of numbers, and can be seen on everything from tactical vehicles like the ADGs Perenties, through to trailers, and commercial trucks like Isuzu NPRs. The highest I recall seeing is 245xxx.

The RAAF have reserved numbers that high, but I doubt if any were used that high.
When I joined the RAAF in 1957. alot of heavy vehicles were still from WW2. The newer cars post war, seemed to start arounf 216000. Seems strange that there appears to be no records. Regards Col
