Default OZ Chev

Hello All,
Recently found this Chev, it has 41 on the ID plate, it seems to be a SWB, has been sitting in the same spot for 45-50 years. It has a small tub on the back(no pics), sort of like a style side pickup.

Can anyone tell me any info about them, how many Australia used etc?.

Thank You

Justin.

Default more info

Hi Justin

Need more pics , of the rear tub . The two GMH body data plates are normally on the pass side firewall , engine side . Gross weight says it is over 2 old tons on that plate . It could be a 1 tonner with 123" wheelbase . What size are the wheels ?

I need a GMH cab for my 1940 ute project . That cab might do I also need info on the wooden framed tub GMH made , mine is mostly gone

Mike

Hello Mike,
The two GMH plates are on it, i will take some more pics of the rear tub when i pick the truck up, and will post them up then. from memory the tyres would be 7.50x16 or there abouts.

Do we have any pics of them in service?

Regards
Justin.

Hi

Yes I have some AWM pics of them in service in the Middle East ....

Maybe we can assist each other with restoring help..mine is a 1940 ... but basically similar to yours .

Look for rust in the chassis , if its been sitting for many years it may be beyond repair .

If the wheels are 16" , its a 1/2 ton chassis , but the nomeclature here was 15 cwt .

Some of the cabs had a brass windscreen frame that opened out

The cab roof has had a ding

Ding on the roof was probably caused by underage drivers, as I see there is a child's saftey latch on the drivers door...
