Default Ford Flathead weight

Hey guys, looking at buying an engine stand that is rated to 200kg. Wondering how much does a Ford 239cu in V8 weight? Interested in weights with or without accessories.

If I remember, about 550 pounds. A little less with aluminum heads.

Thank you paul, well that 200kg equates to 440 pounds so it would not suit. I'll give it a miss and look for something more heavy duty.

Smile Good Idea

Take the time & money to get a good stand. I borrowed a 300kg stand (made by Nnang-yong Bahnh, or one of their subsidiaries), and it just didn't look safe. I used an empty 44 Gallon drum. Most of the work was done with the engine sitting on it's bum (bell housing)

Default Flatties...or should I say "fatties"

I don't care what kind of stand one uses....to be sure you should always place a 2x4 (block of wood) or something else under the front to ease any pressure on the bolts holding the rear. Safety first....

Ryan ,
are you after a stand to use while doing a rebuild or just for tearing it down ? and do you need it to rotate the block ?

and when do you need it by ?

If you dont need it to rotate then come up and use my welder and gear and make one i got enough metal here to make one .
