Default Outer Oil Seal??

Anybody know where a guy could find something functionally equivalent as a replacement for the outer hub oil seals for the rear axle on a MkI carrier. The ones on mine are the leather seals sown to a metal shim. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ross

These are the two seals used in the drums.

The first one, I found a set of NOS ones on Ebay. I just left them to soak in oil for about 1 week so the leather would be nice and soft. Dirk has these listed as GM-1798517 or BB-1175 C at 25 Euros ea.

These second ones, I simply reused the ones that came out of the drums. I got this picture off of Dirks sight. He has them as a GM part #GM-5802270 at 6 euro's each.

Default Great Info

Jordan,

Thanks for the help. The seal shown on the right (pic 2 of 2) is what I need. Unfortunately, my leathers are totally shot so I can't reuse as you did.

I'm not familiar with "Dirk". How do I contact him?

Thanks,
Ross
