Default Canadian troops in Surrey

Hi everyone, can anyone help with troop dispositions in the Surrey area before D-Day?
I grew up in Epsom and was always told stories about the Canadian troops stationed locally who used our covered stables to waterproof their vehicles before D-day.
Close by between Dorking and Guilford is the remains of an old Camp. There are old nissen huts and the remains of some larger steel framed buildings which have long ago collapsed, it is marked on the map as the 'Canadian Camp'. Running through the woodland nearby is a rough road following close to the North downs way, this is called the Canadian Road .The locals were obviously very imaginative with their names at the time.
If anyone has any informtion on this area it would help to fill in the blanks for me.
James
