Dewat L1A1
Good evening/morning/afternoon all. Hoping this entry finds everyone and their families Covid Free and in good health. Been doing some "cleaning of the closets" lately and have a number of DEWATS to clear out. First one is an FN L1A1 with wood furniture. Not all serial numbers match. The unit is in very good shape. the deactivation leaves the unit wit no movable parts with the exception of a removable magazine, which has been pinned. Included with the dewat are a CDN Mag pouch and a very hard to find CDN sling. No licence required to purchase or own. For sale in Canada only.
If you require anymore photos, please PM me. Many thanks and have great week....Robert |

Nice Rifle. Is that a Canadian rifle? It appears to be the same spec as the Australian L1A1 (or is it Lithgow made?) They were the issue rifle when I was in(the N.Z. Army)
There is a wee place in my heart for them.

It is a British made example, as evidenced by the UE prefix to the serial number. If it was a Cdn example, it would be about 3 times that price.
A Canadian example would not have the sand channels on the bolt carrier, would have a disc type rear sight, and a non-ribbed carry handle. The nomenclature would include C1(A1) and it would have an L in the serial number (format of 0L1234). |

Thanks for your help......
Gentlemen: Thanks for your input on the L1A1. The gun was used in the movies, so me thinks details were not a priority.

Personally, I have always equated trying to tart up a British/Auz/Ishapore rifle into a Canadian Look-a-like as dressing up your sister and taking her to the prom. She might look good, but you aren't getting anything afterwards.
I ordered my first Cdn C1A1 from collectors source a couple of decades back. I think it was $850. I have watched the price of C1s climb to the point now where they seem to be in the $2500 to $3500 range. My Cdn collection of FNs is as complete as I want to get it, with an EX1, EX2, C1A1, C1A1 (8L series....4th last rifle produced) and a C2A1. All are deactivated, but thems the rules for non-grandfathered owners. I also have a C1A1 that is still live residing with a licensed owner, and have not had the heart to have it deactivated yet. |

In my opinion Rob and after years of shooting from the hip and buying everything in sight , i am sticking to Canadian stuff now. We should be prouder of what we have produced in quantity and in quality . Canadian stuff is certainly worth the premium being asked in my mind .

My wife agrees too, though she suggests even fewer Canadian purchases as well... I bet poor Mr. Morrison would like all us to just shut up, or at least until he sells that much maligned British FN. |
