Hello Mike,

Thanks for taking this one on. I'll have a pair for my Carrier.

Paul Sykes is rebuilding some Carriers right now, have you tried asking him? I can send a message to him if you'd like me to?

Regards,

Tom

Thank you Tom & George, your interests are noted. Tom please pass the word around as much as you like. I will be sure I get more than are asked for though once the tooling is made it will be easy to get extra batches made when needed.

Just had an update from the 'Rubber man'. Due to some delays as a result of the Covid problems he will not have a sample ready before Christmas but should have it done in January. As soon as I have that I will post photos for approval.

Thanks for the update Mike. Like several other motorcycle suppliers, Jeff has told me he's been inundated with work during covid.....Obviously More blokes with more time in their sheds. In fact Marcia at "Classic Transfers" shut down for the whole of November, to catch up and catch a break. Ron

I have the rubber in stock, would just need a pattern to make them, already pouring the “black stuff” for the B set antenna bases so happy to take this on if you guys are stuck......just say the word.

Hi Hans Erik, yes still fine to order, I will add you to the list. Jeff did say he was inundated with work but would hope to have something done by January. I have just sent him an email to see how work is progressing and will update when he replies. Thanks for the offer Richie but Jeff has had the pattern for a while so will see it through with him unless he is unable to do it.
Cheers

Sample grip arrived today and it is very very good, photos below show the new grip beside my original one. I have orders for 62 grips so will place an initial order for 70 on Monday. Can everyone who expressed interest please email me at m.gurr@yahoo.com with your postal address. If anyone has changed their mind as this has been a long wait please let me know over the weekend so I can adjust the order accordingly.
Cheers
Mike

I have had an update from the manufacturer, he is a one man band so does reply to emails over a weekend! He will start making them now but it will take him a while to do all 70 I have ordered what with other ongoing work he has, he reckons the first batch of 15-20 in about 3 weeks. I will start mailing them out as soon as I get them in.

Great work Mike, thank you. All I need to do now is find the second handle to put the grip on!

I've sent you an email with the details you asked for.

My rubber Jonnies fit a treat. Hardest part was chiseling off the wooden handles that I'd glued on. Well done Mike. Ron

Glad you are happy with them Ron, the first batch covered most of the UK orders. The second batch I am expecting in the next week or so should cover Canada and New Zealand orders.

Hello Mike,

Many thanks for sorting these out. Mine arrived last week, I'm very happy with them and looking forward to fitting them on the Carrier. Apologies for not thanking you sooner, very remiss of me!

See you at Military Odyssey 2021!

Tom

I was wondering how you made out with reproducing the handgrips?
As Rob said anyone with a carrier will need a pair and now that I’m retired I’m focusing more on finishing off the needed pieces for my carrier and I would need a pair of the grips!
Regards,Derk

I missed page 2 of this thread!
I see you had them made!
Now I edit my question to;
Do you have any left?
I would be interested in a set sent across the pond to Manitoba.
Thank you.
Derk

Hi Derk,
Yes I had some made and sold around 80 which went all over the world. Feedback was very positive. Initially I took orders and sent them out as all the interest came through this forum. I don't have any left now and find for individual orders it is easier for you to buy them direct from the chap who made them for me.
Contact is Jeff Hunter of Jeff Hunter Engineering, 35 Sandgate Road, Hall Green, Birmingham B28 0UN, England.
email is Jeffalanhunter@aol.com
Just ask for Universal Carrier handgrips
I imagine he will be happy to post overseas as he makes many rubber parts for vintage motorcycles and is well known in those circles over here but if he won't post direct to you let me know and I will get a pair sent to me and post them on to you.
Mike
