Another one which has a number of interesting vehicles in it.

There are No.8 Blitz Gun Tractors towing 25pdr's and interesting at least two WO78 Chev No.6 Artillery tractors towing 25pdrs instead of 40mm Bofors AA guns. The No.6's have 7.50x20 tyres with duels on the rear. The longer wheel base on the No.6's give a much smother ride than the 101" wheel base CGT's.

enjoy Rick.

Great pieces of film. The AWM has quite a stack of these films, including trials and test films, aircraft recognition films, and so on. Seems they are slowly getting them onto digital format, which is excellent for all us 'mv nuts'.

Interesting that the opening frames of the 1950s film showed artwork of an M26 Pershing (never operated by Australia) , and the 1970s film that talked so much about the new 1 ton truck on trial was mostly showing 2 1/2 (4x4) and 5 ton (6x6) International trucks on trial - there was little of the actual 1 ton prototypes, just the short section in the sand pit connected to the strain meter.

Some really nice kit shown - including a White M3A1 AOP. Nice finds, Rick and Mike, thanks.

Mike

Excellent find Rick, extremely rare to see Aust pattern gun tractors on film. Here's some wartime footage on parade: https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/F01705/

Default Classic

That's one of the classic ones - there's also the gymkhana but I don't have the reference for that one.
Pity they wasted so much film on Blamey and the crowd, they could have better used it with more arty tractor shots.
The Carrier pics are good, especially the low angle ones.

Default crane

I am wondering how they managed to get Blamey into that carrier, they probably rigged up a crane and lowered him in

That would be 9th Div gymkhana 20 Jan '45, also held at Herberton Racecourse. So far I've only found stills of that parade, including No.8 and No.9 gun tractors below. The only film I've found shows sports: https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/F07147/
