Default Does anyone recognize this grill?

A recent émigré to Canada from UK, who owns an early MB, asked me if I recognized this grill. Although we didn't discuss its origins, I expect it made the trip across the North Atlantic from UK near the Welsh border to Canada this year. The top extends as shown, and collapses to nearly flush with the top rail. It is green, and the MB parts manual was dropped into the shot for size reference.

Does anyone recognize this grill? Is it vehicle, or even military?

Terry,

I have absolutely no clue what it is, however, may I have your permission to post it on another forum that may get a better result?

Will I see you Sunday? Shall I bring cash?

Robin

Yes you may share. The item's last address was in Britain, so uncommon American vehicles might be even less likely answers. If we don't know, we don't know and I can tell my friend as much.
