Default Salt

Down here in Oz we are paying billions to try and get rid of salt out of seawater to get a drink.
Maybe we should be doing business with Holland.

Salt is a byproduct of our potash mines and they have mountains of it that they can't get rid of. It's a real problem. Our municipalities get it for road salt just for hauling it away.

Default Serious

This sounds serious....does anyone remember the blight that struck a few years back....that notorious "Dutch Puck Disease" damn near ruined the whole season...rumor has it that hockey players were donating their prized pucks to keep the season from collapsing.

That's right.
Sydney's new desal plant is capable of removing the salt from over 250,000,000 litres of sea water a day.
What a massive waste of money! How much salt do we really need anyway?

(Sorry, Tony, but you know I had to!)

Reminds me of the ice storm we had in Canada in 1998.

Hanno, condolences...we've been there regularly.

Wonder if there really is any merit in trade with Australia and/or Saskatchewan for surplus salt?

Ahh, but the Govt thinks the Desal Plant could pay for itself over the long term!
