Default BID WARS

Anyone from our gang bidding on the hip ring?

So far bg3945 and imccoll are in the game. I will soon join them if they are not "friendlies".

Default Although I am not interested in bidding ...

on this item, please feel free to bid against me on any EBAY item that I have placed a bid on, I am FLYINROB. I am still friendly, but as far as I am concerned EBAY is a free for all. Cheers Rob

Default FREE FOR ALL

Nuthin free on EPay...

I agree with the "market force" approach to ebay, but won't compete (and artifically inflate the prices) for an item that a fellow CMP restorer (particularly if I know him) is pursuing.

However, if I don't know who I am bidding against, it's "Weapons Free" baby!

Happy bidding...

Just happy I have both those items, or I might be in there, too. Even among friends the bidding ought to have its natural outcome.

People I know who are wary and mystified by EBay (and I guess auctions in general) ask me how how I know what something is really worth, and I always say, it's worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.

Default The links will not work for me

Hi Mark- For some reason the links don't work from my computer.

I agree with you and others about bidding being an open situation. I think that the only reason for saying anything is so that we don’t accidentally drive the price up on some part that we are just buying against a someday need etc. I tend to bid what something is worth to me personally at the start and let the system do the bidding for me.

It is a sign of the sprit of our CMP community that we all post things we spot on e-bay even when we are bidding on it ourselves.

By the way what I really need is two seats.

Cheers

The links aren't working for me either - could be because I linked them while I was logged on EBay.

They are items:

6571139831 Bren Gun Carrier Blackout Headlamp pinhole
6571141652 Bren Gun Carrier Black out Headlamp with slit

same seller, same high bidder at three bids, as of this minute

And this guy has just listed a bunch of carrier parts, too:

http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQsassZ1stcanparaQQhtZ-1

This all may be old news, or en famille for the carrier crowd, of course.

The third item was thisL 6570444304 - 2 Gallon "Flimsy" Canadian issue 1944 dated WATER mk

Default A Rich Man's Game

WOW! The prices on the CMP items auctioned on EBay are staggering! I expect more items will be showing up for bids with these results.

It makes me wonder about the future of this hobby - will only the well-to-do be able to afford this hobby? Will functioning vehicles be stripped down to take advantage of these prices? This does not bode well...

I agree, that's why I posted the results. Last time I saw a CMP seat for sale it was UKP80 (US$140), and I thought that was expensive. It did not have the cushions, but it was NOS. And no, this wasn't 20 years ago, only 2...

Default Prices realized on EBAY for this item...

are really no more than dealers are asking for CMP parts out of Europe when considering shipping back to North America. Frankly, I think thats a fair price for a hip ring here in Canada, the overseas buyer did not seem to have a problem with the shipping back to Europe. Good for him! Cheers Rob

Default Searching for parts

Gents

Yes, agreed!
This hobby is becoming expensive. The previous postings look like stock exchange updates.

It also puts fellow hobbiests in positions where they feel guilty about buying a long sought after part,! Particularly when you are buying off of Ebay.

I ended up buying the seat and the 2 Bren lights. Been looking for a couple of years for these items. Lost out on many previous attempts, so I decided to go ahead and bid high for a change.

My CGT restoration should be finished next year, problem is I still needed seats, have 3 need 6. Now 4 need 2. Looks like seats are highly sought after items. More and more CMP's are being rescued and its creating a high demand for a limited supply of parts.

I have been collecting parts for my Mark I Bren for about 2 years, its next in line to be restored. I have never seen headlights for sale before?
West coast Canada has never had a good supply of parts.
These items are good candidates for repro. Please dig out your surplus stocks and put them in our MLU buy and sell listings.
There was a lot interest in these items, there has to be more out there, please help the fellows out! Big Mike, Phil among many
others.

I thought he was overseas. An even better deal for a North American buyer. Way to go Ian. Cheers Rob
