Good reading here:
https://www.qsl.net/vk2dym/index.htm I believe Colin's extensive military radio collection was split up and sold some years ago after he became a silent key. Colin's article on the Darwin radar set installation refutes the claims made by many and it reveals that the RAAF were not in any way responsible for the lack of warning of the approaching enemy raid on 19th Feb. 1942. https://www.qsl.net/vk2dym/radio/RS31_Radara.htm

Great article, thanks Mike. One sentence struck me as particularly relevant:
"Relationships with the Armed services were not always cordial and there were some heated exchanges between them, mostly over delays, unfulfilled promises and too much research at a time when the services needed working equipment." That sentence could be applied equally to a number of research-design-manufacture-supply matters including the various Australian designed AFVs, most of which ended up being terminated after limited production.
