Military Drill at Champ-de-Mars ILE SAINTE-HELENE, July 26 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of the historical programming in Old Montreal, La Compagnie franche de la Marine and the Olde 78th Fraser Highlanders will perform authentic 18th century drill and music at Champ-de-Mars esplanade on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12:45 (noon), July 27 until August 20 (except July 30). Watch authentic military drills and parades re-enacted by the soldiers of La Compagnie franche de la Marine or The Olde 78th Fraser Highlanders, two 18th century regiments reconstituted by the Stewart Museum in the 1960s. The blue and grey uniformed French regiment executes split-second firing. Dressed in their regimental tartan kilts, the Frasers perform Highland dances to the skirl of bagpipes and drums. This living history program is made possible through the Entente sur le développement culturel de Montréal and the financial support of the City Montreal, the Ministry of Culture and Communications, and in collaboration with Navettes Maritimes du St-Laurent.
