One shown on the adv for Corowa in Jeep Magazine, think it belongs to a chap in Adelaide, Salesman Bob will know.
There was a replica built up here (Albury) a couple of years ago, but you can tell.
Speaking of this adv. Ganmain Tony has also managed to get his truck in it, must be one of those European Blitz's.
Rich.

... this one belongs to Manfred (VW Kübelwagen Typ 82). You can ask Salesman Bob, he knows him. Pics taken at Corowa 2009. He also appears on Keefys Corowa DVD.

Greetings
Chris

Assessment fir use in the ad was based solely on it's oil leaks.

Default Kubels

There is one here in W.A. that I know of, and several in the East, one in pieces waiting restoration.

This is the Kubelwagen that Wayne mentioned - a superb example of the type.

I have some great video of Manfred nearly flipping his Kubelwagen whilst going down an embankment at the recent Emu Gully mudfest.... fantastic to see it flying around, it's certainly no trailer queen. I'll put it up on YouTube sometime.

Steve.

Thank you all very much, find the subject very interesting.

The one in WA appears to be on full registration, I can see how he gets around the indicator light problem, but how does he get around the seat belt problem and it being LHD,

Does any one have contact details and do the rules vary from state to state.

Thank you all very much

regards

Col

Col, Here in Victoria, a vehicle on either full or concessional registration does not have to have anything which was not an original fitting. That means it does not need electric lights, stoplights, indicators, seatbelts, windscreen wipers or washers or anything else if they were not designed to have them. But, if they have been fitted at a later date, then that item must work. Nothing has been made retrospective back to the beginning of the automobile age.

Having said that we are fighting the authorities over the recently introduced Child Restraint rules where NO child under the age of 7 can be carried in a vehicle not fitted with the correct for age child restraint. This is an Australia wide ruling. All states and territories have their own slant on what are supposed to be an Australian wide ruling.

The Association of Motoring Clubs (AOMC Inc) and others are working to get the ruling made retrospective from a date where seatbelts were made compulsory in all new cars. Therefore allowing the older vehicles to be left original if the owner wants it that way.

So you realize that this means no kids under 7 in any jeeps or any other vehicles unless the law is changed.

Regards Rick.

I think in most instances, WA law is the same as Rick has outlined, though in relation to the child restraints, we are apparently seeking (with some prospects of success) the issuing of a permit to allow a relaxation of the rule, for a specific event.

As time goes on and the State authorities continue to get their collective acts together, the traffic laws will become far more coherent, nationally.

Default Another one

There was or is another mint KUBEL around.. a chap who was a VMVC member George D'onofrio or similar ..he was a VW nut and he brought it along to our club swap , around late 80's ?? It was in perfect shape, with new panels he imported from Europe. He also owned the Swimmerwagon at one time, he had it at Corowa in the early days , it was much modified and he took it for a swim in the lagoon.. Where it all is now, who knows ???

Thank you all for your interest, the mystery appears with the two that were evaluated by the Australian, one I know ended up in Tasmania but now both seem to have vanished.

Have great interest in both the Kubel and swimming wagons but the later are bringing good money, the highest price paid for one recently is $235,000.

Kubels appear much lower but both are now getting very low as far as stocks are concerned. The Kubel has the advantage that parts are mory easy to obtain.

Any way thank you all for posting and especially lovely Jan it is great to see a lady amongst us.

Regards

Col

There is a replica in Brisbane. It was built a long time ago with plans posted from Germany. Built on a beatle chassis of course.
Cheers
Jeff
