M5A1 Stuart Tank
Up for sale is my M5A1 Stuart tank, parade ready, running and driving.
Tank is in great shape having been sandblasted and painted with Dupont Imron. Not all stock or original and the price reflects that. Currently it is running a single 454 Chevrolet engine coupled to a well built 2spd Powerglide running via brand new heavy duty driveshaft into M3 Stuart trans/differential. Both original Cadillac flatheads are included with the sale along with an original fuel tank and original radiators. Right now the tank has a giant radiator from an AVGP Cougar LAV. It was built to start on the button and run all day long even in 120 degree heat. No modifications were made to the hull and we mounted the new drive train by fabricating cradles that used original holes on the hull floor. Currently I am in the process of finishing the turret basket and out fitting the turret with the original hydraulic power traverse. Turret sits on all brand new bearings. Gun is a CNC machined copy with CNC machined Breech ring and block. Tracks are in excellent shape as are road wheels, suspension has all new bearings and seals. I have 90% of the original stowage and quite a few spare parts and accessories that will go with the tank. Tank is priced at $125k USD. Will assist with export and will ship worldwide. Please send serious inquiries via email. |

John, it really looks the part! This could be a great entry into the "world of tanks" for a collector. Use it and meanwhile rebuild the original engines.

Thanks Hanno
When put I the tank together I had no plans to sell it, I have been working on a couple of Sherman projects and I wanted something I could use and have some fun with in the meantime, I built it with ease of use and maintenance in mind, something that would always be parade and event ready and easy enough to drive and maintain that anyone could do it. With that in mind I had always thought that one day once I had the Shermans complete, I would in fact restore it to original. So I was careful not to make any permanent modifications to the hull or turret that would make future restoration more difficult. But life being what it is it looks like it will be going to a new home John |

Yes a beautiful piece, but unfortunately in a much higher price league than I can play with.
John, I gotta tell you it hurts watching this happen. You take care. |

Thank you all for the continued support, all is going well and I am feeling very positive. The Stuart is now sold and is going to a like minded collector and overall great steward for our hobby. And yes it is going to remain in Canada. I want to thank everyone for their interest in the tank. And to answer a question I have been getting a lot, I am currently not selling any of my other tanks. If things change I will be posting notice of that here on the MLU. Thanks again everyone. As I said before, it is a great MV community we have here.
Regards John |

Is this Honey still in Greater Vancouver? And is there any news of the Sherman mentioned in the Peace Arch News?

Canadian M-4 found in Vietnam 1966
Hi; Just a side note; While clearing jungle we found an abandoned M-4 [cad powered] and our 2nd Squadron maintence crew recovered it and got it running. Then it became an object of High Brass " tug of war" and it got moved around as a trophy. Originally it was found by the 11th Armored Cav Reg US Army. The reason I say Canadian, because I later read an article about those M-4s being sent to the French, from Canadian stores. The M-4 remained in Vietnam when we left. Dave N
