Default Dodge APT speedometer detail

I recently saw a very original, unrestored Dodge D3/4APT, dated July 1945. The speedometer does not have a tripmeter, just the odometer. Otherwise it is a typical-looking military speedometer: luminous needle etc. The line drawings in the maintenance manual and driver's handbook show a tripmeter and the part number, CC 923860, is the same as the American WC-series trucks which had a tripmeter. Any comments from other APT owners to suggest that maybe some or all APT's had speedometers which did not have a tripmeter. ......... Brian

I just looked at all the Dodge APT pictures I have taken over the years (around 5) and none of them have the trip odometer in them, Hope that helps.

Default Dodge APT speedos

Dave, thank you for you comments. 2 later APT that I have seen have no tripmeter. My early APT has a tripmeter. I have found numerous of the non-tripmeter speedometers as surplus and always wondered what they were used for. Maybe this is the answer.
You or other APT owners may wish to share info on your serial numbers, body tags, engine numbers etc with Kjell Hansen in Norway who has spent several years researching APT Dodges. PM me for his contact information and help him to do the best possible job in documenting the APT story.... Brian

Default Thanks Brian

Thank you Brian for helping me with my register of ATP . To all members of this group. If you are missing data on your truck I can estimate them rather accurate by getting the chassisnumber only. And remember. Engine number is stamped on the frame left side were the radiator is mounted. I have 60 ATP in my register my now.

Default Trip meter

Checked my books Brian. And the trip meter is mentioned in the book on the ATP but its not there on the ATP/WP. That I did not know. That means that there are no trip meter on trucks from 91166034. Thanks for making me aware.
