Hi Ron,

There must be a zillion places here, that sell oversize rings for the sidevalve V8 - aren't there ?

I'd imagine that adverts in the Restored Cars magazine would provide some avenues for you to explore.

Here in the West, there is a mob called Early Ford Parts (Ron West on 0418 935 613), who are in the game and might be able to assist.

However, whenever I've wanted Dodge parts, I've found it much cheaper and just as quick, to go direct to the suppliers in the US, via their websites.

Ron,

Good old rings for Ford V8's are 239 CI Engine.
The Bore size STOCK is 3.1875"
The ring gap is 0.009" to 0.014"
Width of rings is 0.91" to 0.92"
Gap Width is .009" to .014"

Take these details & visit your local engine reconditioner & they might be able to provide (suitable) replacements. If you are reboring oversize, you will need new pistons & rings, not just rings..

OR try http://www.flatattackracing.com/ (hmm I am starting to sound like a broken record) I haven't bought anything from them yet as the budget is blown on waterpump rebuilds this month!

Oh and I am offering this advice, as its WAYYYY too hot out in the garage at 39C... Hmm wondering if it's over 5C in Canada...

Ian

Hi Ron - 85 or 95hp. First is 3 1/16 with latter, Mercury 3 3/16. Try Antique Auto Spares here in Adelaide. John Biddle 08 8268 5541. If no luck I know a scrappie in Port Pirie, if he is still operating, or alive, who had heaps of ring sets. Contact me if the latter is required and I'll try to make contact.

What size do you need, Ron. I have several sets in different O/S's for 3 1/16 and 3 3/16, genuine and aftermarket.

Swapmeet season around here is rapidly approaching, and you can always find a set or two of rings at a price too good to refuse.
