Default Mystery radio set

I was at the local antique mall this week and spotted this large radio set.
It was described as a Marconi receiver set and marked hold/sold.
Does anyone recognize this radio set, its application and what it might realistically be worth on todays market? All leads greatly appreciated!

WS52. In the UK, worth £1500 to £2000 imo.

Yes, a 52-Set showing a Rebuild decal on the upper left front corner of the middle Supply Unit.

You didn't happen to get any serial numbers off it did you Bob?

As for worth...whatever you can get for it. This set sits in the middle to upper levels of the communications triangle at Regimental and Divisional levels at the command level so numbers of them are greatly less than say the 19-Set. Its applications are also much more specific and limited which tends to cancel out value due to fewer numbers because if you have one, what can you do with it to show it off. The set in the photo seems to be missing its Aerial Tuning Unit so would be weighing in at about 250 pounds which is another factor. It is not easily moved.

Still a beautiful set however, and even more delightful when they are running.

I wonder if this is the one that showed up on eBay about seven years ago in Edmonton, suddenly jumped in price and then vanished? Be nice to finally document its Serial Numbers to help fill in the production records for the set.

Thanks everyone for your input. There was a tag on it asking cdn $1400. With the current state of our dollar that's less than US 1k. Pretty large unit and heavy. If I get back down there later I will look for serial numbers. I already have too many 19 sets so I have no plans to try and aquire this type of radio!

Well hopefully the new owner will come out of the woodwork with it and start sharing information about the set.
