Old gun
Received the following from someone in the States:
Quote:
...any of your shooting buddies interested in a Model 1865 Spencer carbine, which I strongly suspect is an ex-Canadian militia cavalry weapon, based on it coming out of Eastern Canada and having 'dished' stocks where the military acceptance stamps should be.
Good dark patina, bore appears to be strong and clean. Crisp action, tight lockup.
I have an Buffalo Arms breechblock, as well as an S&S brass magazine follower, a sling bar w/ ring and buttstock sling mount that needs fitting.
I also have about 20 brown plastic blanks and pieces of 70 NDFS .50-70 brass (with an Indian-Wars vintage 20 round Pine cartridge box insert block, good for range loading). N.D.F.S. brass cases are turned from solid bar, not drawn. They are accurately machined to match the dimensions of the original cases. The case heads are of the solid type and have Boxer primer pockets.
I can take photos to your heart's content.
$1,700 plus shipping and insurance.
