Hi Folks
I am just starting the restoration of a 1943 Canadian built 6pdr,its taken over a year to acquire this piece and joins 12 other artillery pieces in my collection. As you can see from the pics it has quite a bit missing so I am looking for parts if anyone out there has spares for sale !! Build plant?
Was it built by Regina Industries Ltd? I.e. the GM Regina, Sask, plant? They did also build in Oshawa plant as well.

Hi David
Not sure of manufacture as yet ,I have just got the 6pdr and there is a multitude of markings on the Gun. I have just completed the restoration of a 1943 105mm M2 Howitzer which has taken most of my spare time up so I can know concentrate on the little 6pdr. Pic of plate att. Border City Industries also I think did some 6-pdr work at the new plant in Walker Road, Windsor. Another wartime GM of Canada company!

6 pdr 7cwt Restoration
Hi Folks
Just an update on the 6 pdr restoration,I managed to assemble the carriage yesterday with relative ease and without knocking too much pain off. The trails were in quite poor shape before starting ,but shaped up ok after spending some time heating and beating. I am currently working on the recuperator and barrel, still looking out for various bits such as the short trail stay and sight mounting if anyone out there can help. 6 pdr 7cwt
Hi All.
I managed to get a couple of afternoons off from work this week after spending what feels like forever behind the wheel of a snow plough/Gritter. Went straight into the workshop and assembled some more of the gun,I had prepared quite a few bits but needed to get the barrel on to continue. The slipper required a fair bit of work due to corrosion so I ended up cutting the rot out and replacing, and renewing the steel and leather slid seals. I had a few problems sliding the barrel onto the recuperator it didn't go on as easy as I would have liked but we got there in the end. Spent this afternoon fitting all the bits to it so it has come on quickly, the next job is to fabricate the main gunsheild so I need to locate patterns, dimension etc and also looking for the sight assembly so if anyone out there can help it would be grately appreciated. I have some new and unissued no4 mop bags dated 1943 so if there are any 6 pdr owners out there who need some send me a pm,will post anywhere. Looks very nice indeed. I'm surprised no one else has said so. Perhaps you're not being "noticed" yet.

Hi Rob,
Great restoration of a great gun! Here are some of my pictures of the 6-pdr AT Gun on display as a monument at Heelsum, The Netherlands. As you can see it is the Airborne version. The 16" wheels are a later addition, it seems the German nicked all the wheels they could scrounge off the battlefield when finally departing home in 1945! Regards, Hanno

Very nice piece. I like the finish on the breech block. Have you used any coating/oil on the breech or just polished the bare metal?
I would have liked to have done this to some of the 25pdrs but age and de milling have taken their toll. |

Like Wayne, I am very jealous of the finish on your breech Rob. You have added another superb restoration to your collection. I tried the bare metal look on my 2 pounder, but it didn't look nice. 70 odd years in a hostile environment has taken it's toll. Ron

The breech ring and block have just been stripped back ,polished and oiled.
I have had the problem with some of my other pieces when the breeches just don't clean up that well so I then paint them . I still need to find a sight mount but I am hopeing one will come along some day. The gun is live and held on a section one firearms license Rob...................rnixartillery collection |

Manual
Hi Rob: Just read your thread on the 6 pounder. I don't have a spare parts manual, but I do have the handbook for the 6-PR Marks 1, 1A and 11, dated 1942. If you need any info from that, let me know. Cheers.....Robert
