Default Leo IIA6 arrives in Kandahar ...

... but apparently not on a Canadian aircraft.

See http://www.combatcamera.forces.gc.ca...e=combatcamera for the pic.

Default And silly me thought that you had ...

... OPSEC concerns, at heart ?

"Sorry Robert, we beatcha!"

Geoff, not half as sorry as I am. I wasn't even aware that "we" were engaged in a race ?? No way at all for me to win one when you have the power to edit out/change my posts when I can't return the favour.

I thought it prudent to wait for a couple of weeks before posting news of a much more potent Canadian weapons system arriving in-country. Aren't you at all concerned that the "Timmies", as I think you called them, might have been able to use your information to their advantage ? At the expense of our troops overseas.

There is a war on, afterall.

Eh??

Would you be so kind as to point out - explicitly - just where I've 'edited out/changed' your posts? And when you can't, would you also be so kind as to edit your post accordingly, yourself?

The rest was a bit of fun, Robert, not a poke, and those photos were released by the government at the time I posted the links to them, so I also rather resent your implication that I'm engaging in OPSEC violations. I think you know better than that.

"There is a war on, afterall."? Gee, thanks, I guess I never knew... thanks for opening my eyes.

Never mind, Dave, I just figured out what he's still pissed about.

I'm not going to go into it yet again, except to say that if Mr. Dabkowski's not happy with the way this forum is run, he's quite welcome to start his own.

That goes for anyone here. My door is always open, as I've demonstrated in past, but the last word must and will always be mine as long as I run MLU. 'Tis the nature of the beast.

And THAT is the last word on this subject.

not beating you up geoff, im agreeing with you.
if something is secret thats one thing but this is open news source stuff. its not anything thats hidden.

and by the way, you cant "sneak" anything thats 70 tons into that place without camras clicking.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Leopard 2A6M is a version of the 2A6 with further protection against mines. Canada has also announced its intentions to borrow 20 A6Ms from Germany for immediate deployment to Afghanistan in an effort to increase firepower and to increase protection given to Canadian troops operating in the south of Afghanistan. The new tanks all have turret electric drive as well as internal air conditioning.

The Leopard 2A6M CAN is a Canadian variant of the Leopard 2A6M. Significant modifications include distinctive black boxes mounted on the rear of the turret bustle, originally expected to be the new air conditioning unit but instead likely contains Canadian Forces designated communications gear (as they lined up with the new antennae stands)[4], and stand-off slat armour.[5] The first tanks configured in this variant are the 20 tanks loaned from German Bundeswehr, and as such are expected to retain the MG3 machine guns, while the ex-Dutch tanks are expected to retain their FN MAG machine guns due to commonality with existing Canadian stocks.[6] Due to the loaned status of the first 20 tanks, the air conditioning unit cannot be installed as only minimal changes could be made, while the ex-Dutch tanks are expected to receive more extensive modifications.[7]
