That is a rectangular piece of 1/4 inch plywood that covers the radiator opening between the driver and gunner. The washer shown is riveted onto the ply, and a knurled thumbscrew holds it to the opening.

I have found the identical dished washer (less the 3 rivet holes) used on crates even today, so they still exist somewhere.

Default Board

The blanking board is a 1/4" piece of plywood that goes between the
driver and gunner to cover the hole where you can see the rad.

The little metal, piece goes in the centre and a special bolt
secures it to the plate.

Default Blanking board

Thanks for your replies friends.

I guess it was only used in winter like the canvas rad cover of the CMP'S ?

Cheers.

Not restricted to cold weather use. It assists to decrese the time = fuel required to reach operating temps.
