Smile New Carriers

I went and got the 2 more carriers for a total of 4, I now have in my yard, 4 carriers, 2 CMP's and 1 M152 CDN. I was able to get the lower hull # of the green one, it is 25261 and appears to be a tank hunter. When you look closely at the picture you can see the idler wheel in the middle is a solid steel wheel and not the type that has the rubber around it. I did notice that the engine has a TL #, will have to get that later and a tag that shows it was rebuilt by RCEME in 1954. I will get better and more pictures tomorrow.

Default Pics

I went out today and got some pics on my lunch, hopefully they are clear enough to determine if this is a tank hunter or a regular carrier. I think it looks like a TH because of the extra metal around the rad and the mounting holes/bolts for the engine cover, however the storage box on top of the fuel tank makes me think otherwise, any ideas?

The pictures of the carrier hull are for a Mk2 carrier. The last picture with the engine cover is for a tank hunter Carrier. I only think they made those on Mk1 Hulls. You mention earlier about a steel return wheel. Later war ones were made all from steel.

Default Rad Guard

Any thoughts on the extra steel around the Rad? It looks like the extra steel for the 6 pdr that I see on the tank hunters. Could it have the re-inforcement for a .30 or .50 cal? I would like to make it as close to original as possible when I do start working on it.

Its hard to tell from your photos but I'd say its just something someone has added. The torch cut stuff that has the paint on it is whats left of the armoured air louvers. The division plate has also been cut down. I also can't say Ive seen a .50 or .30 cal mounted there. Usually they were put up front on the front armour in front of the gunner.

Default Carrier

I think maybe I meant to say Vickers, I swear I saw a photo of one mounted there, or was it a Bren, I got my hopes up a bit that I might have a Tank hunter, oh well I still have a carrier to be restored

i have seen 30/50 cals mounted on the division plate. i agree with Jordan the hull is a Mk2. the storage case is this not a t16 thing or a late Mk carrier ? i know models of Mk2 carriers that i have built always have these stowage boxes on the tanks...

as for the engine cover again i agree with Jordan my only other thought if it was not a tank hunter cover would perhaps be Loyd ? but i dont think Loyd covers were tapered.
