Default M-series Headlight Upgrade

It is a well known fact that older type headlights just don’t cut it in today’s driving situations.
My M1009 CUCV blazer has sealed beam 4x6” headlamps with hi/low built in.
Apparently the US Military has direct replacement LED lights made by Truck Lite that simply drop in without need for further mods, relays etc.
Just wondering if anyone has done this upgrade and might have a source of these from surplus. Online they are a pricey item.

Put 4x6 LED headlight into amazon search and you will see dozens of options. Most will come from China, so you can take their DOT approval with a grain of salt.

If you drive in the early winter, one of the issues with some of the LED headlamps is they don't create enough heat to melt off any ice that might accumulate. Some will have an extra wire for heat.

I have worked with some of the other sizes in military LED lighting, and as a system they work out pretty good. But when retrofitting, there are some tricks and traps. I have been working out one of those now.

Grote is another brand that often comes up as US Surplus, but I often see claims that they can't (as Surplus) be shipped out of the US. Grote also do Commercial versions which might suit you?
