Default FS: Replica VW KDF 82e

SOLD

It’s a 1962 bug that has been “backdated” to look like a 1943 KDF. I’m still not sure whether to call it a 82e as it has some of the features of a 92SS. This is not one of the replicas from New Mexico. Its a one of a kind.

My friend put in the reduction gears that the 82e's (and kubels) had in them. The result is more torque, and a “lifting” effect when you start out in first (the rear rises up). Among some of the changes, it has a split window kit, wing windows removed, the correct size rims & tires, original (metal) split dashboard, dash pods (note the KDF logo on the blank dash pod), semiphores, correct bumpers, fuel tank reserve switch, handles, headlight covers, KDF logo on the hood. He really went out of his way to make it look as correct as he could for a ’62 to look like a’43. I put a 40 hp motor in it and a new wiring loom, its 12 volt. It drives & stops great. The replica FuD2 transciever is wired to plug a modern FRS unit into the back. The operator can use period microphone & headsets, its just operating off of a FRS unit.

Located in Estacada Oregon.

Please send me a PM if interested.

Thanks for looking!
Chuck

Default Wow....

Maybe a replica BUT it does look good...... job well done.

Brings back fond memories of the 60s when working/playing with Dune Buggies...... and yes the rear axle reduction gear box makes a difference... they were in high demands even back then and many buses gave their rear transaxle assembly to sand box babies.

The Typ 82E is the best looking Beetle ever built, if you ask me.

Here's another replica for sale on this side of the pond: http://www.milweb.net/classifieds/la...ad=59897&cat=2
