Default repro No. 9 aerial bases

I am in the process of making a few No. 9 aerial bases, the 5" and 10" versions. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will add it to the run. Cost will be about $85 for the short one, and $90 for the tall one. These will be exact copies of the two samples I have, pictured below, only more symetrical as the bases were sheared on the original, and I will be machining the bases on the repro's, they will be furnished primed, not painted(unless I can come up with the proper wrinkled finish with paint, and no stenciled numbers. Not looking for a financial commitment, just numbers. I will post photo's of the finished product when done(in a few weeks). The original screw size is #6-40, if anyone wishes, I can tap theirs #6-32, as #6-32 screws are more readily available in the correct head form and length.

Very nice Perry. For anyone that doesn't know, Perry does some exceptional machining work.

They don't have to be wrinkle-finish, I've got some that are plain matt in OD or SCC No.2 (later: Service Brown) and have the stores code stamped into the metal rather than stencilled.

Your repro versions look Far Too Nice compared to my originals, though.

Exceptionally good work.

Chris.

I think the examples in Perrys pictures are originals, at least, that's how I understood his posting.

Like Chris, all my originals in green and brown have been smooth paint and stamped. I suspect Perrys are US or Canadian made.

To be clear, the bases pictured in my first post are the originals I am copying, NOT the reproductions. The repro's will be exact copies of these two originals dimensionally, not the paint finish or stenciling.

Hammertone paint is available from Home Hardware I believe. It should replicate the wrinkle finish although you may have to purchase black and then overspray with OD to get the colour right.

I have a few bases and cages left after a run of 15. $90 for the 5" base with screws. $95 for the 10" base with screws. $70 for the cages. The cages fit both versions of base (1 11/16" dia. and the 1 3/4" dia). The clamps will close up on the 1-11/16 dia. bases, and leave a 3/16" gap on the clamps with the 1-3/4" dia. base. I will be at Fort George for the end of August show.

Default Aerial cage

Perry,

Received your cage today. Great workmanship. I was initially worried since I couldn't find any documentation regarding the use of a cage on a Lynx. This period picture of a cage on the "A" side aerial solved my dilemma.

Thanks, Peter
