Well it's been a bit quiet in this part of the forum of late, so I thought i'd post some pics of my Landies.

First vehicle that I got is my daily driver when my wife has the x-trail. It's a 1981 Series 3 Fitted for Radio (FFR). Although it is almost one of the last series 3 vehicles to enter australian service, it left with the early olive drab colour scheme rather than the later 3 colour scheme currently in use. From what I can tell of markings i've found, it's served both at the School of armour (logo on both doors), and a C squadron in one of the armoured units ("Coma ~ Toes" II found written on the drivers side air vent).

As I got it, missing radio operator seats, radio tables, antennas, antenna mounting brackets and a few other things.

My second and most recent purchase is another australian army land rover, but this time a series 2 ambulance. The australian army had 184 series 2 and 2a ambulances delivered.

Of these, 2 were series 2 prototypes, 31 were series 2 ambulances, and the remaining 151 were series 2A ambulances. Mine is one of only 2 of the 31 series 2 vehicles that I know to still exist. I only bought it earlier this year, 2006, and it's going to take me a couple of years to finish, but i'll get there.

The last of the ambulances left service in 1992 after entering service in 1961. From markings i've found in the vehicle it looks like it was one of the very last of these ambulances to leave service.

Well a mate has a ser2 and 2A Ambo stored here at my place. A interesting feature is the different wheel mount on the bonnet... ment to take 900 x 16 tyers.

As for me I have a 1960 ser 2 FFR and a 1970 ser 2A FFR Landy as well as 1958 ser2 swb gun buggy that did time as a swb ambo befor getting the gun buggy chop. Also we have another ser 2 swb GS and 2A swb GS as well as the remains of another ser 2 gun buggy.

Landrovers.... they are a bloody curse!

well that makes 3 series 2 ambos I know of unles it's Mike Cecil't that you've got there.

Any chance of a few photos for reference, mainly of the series 2, but any of the 2a would be good as well

Main thing is time. I've got the doff out of the ambulance in anticipation of removing the whole rear axle housing and suspension to de re rust both the axle and chassis, before moving foward to the fuel tanks and front end.

About time for an update I think. I had a busy long weekend last weekend (thursday was show day, I took friday and monday off as well).

And the result, was a much better coat of paint for my Series 3

I have to do the rims an a lot of brackets and parts, but it's a big start being ass it's my daily driver, and has been for at least 1/2 of the 9 years that i've owned it.
