Default Air Raid 1940 Cuckmere Valley/Seaford Sussex UK

During 1940 a Canadian Regiment was billeted in bell tents at Seaford Sussex. Unfortunately this area was used by the German airforce as a route through the south downs and would fly in low. Subsequently the regiment was wiped out but no records appear to be available. A local member of the Home Guard would lay poppies in the area as a memorial to those who died and in 2006 a permanent memorial was errected. But still no real information is known about the tragedy. Does any one know which Canadian Regiments were in the Seaford area during 1940?

Thanks.

Pam

Pam,

Could I presume that there was nothing in the media reported at the time because of what we now call "OPSEC"?
