Engine stud removal
Hello ,
Maybe this post would be better on a restoring tips heading . We all have to , at some point remove rusty cyl head studs from engine blocks . Usually , broken studs and grey hairs result . A recent post on the G 503 forum was very informative . A Jeep restorer used a penetrant that is commonly used in detecting cracks in the aircraft industry . Its a dye penetrant they use with a glow dye substance to look for minute cracks in aircraft parts . Our intrepid Jeep restorer tried this stuff out on his rusted in engine studs and the results were amazing . They all came out with ease after a overnight soaking . Does anyone know if this stuff is available to us ordinary grease monkeys Mike |

Dye Penetrants
Mike,
There is a company called Rocol who make all kinds of speciality products for engineering. They produce a product called Flawfinder Penetrant in aerosol form. Any company that supplies to industry should be able to get it. In the UK, RS Components supply this sort of items. Richard |

Dychek
Used to be called Dychek in Canada, though there are many different brands. Never thought using the penetrant part ( 2 part process ) as a lube though. I'll have to try.
