Default Amphibian Tractor T33 Alligator

Any one down under have photos of data plates for LVT, should be three, large data plate, the smaller oval data plate, and a small one with I believe the smaller data plate had Continental Canning Company New York stamped on it, have photos of the originals, they walked off a few years ago, along with the instrument panel, would like to make new ones. thnkx \gordon

Gordon, I think they swam a bit better in softer water.
Were those pics before or after the dynamite?

Hi Gordon.
I don't personally know of any Amphibian Tractors T33 in Australia. As far as I know there are none in existence here but not having actively sought after them I could be wrong.
The nearest LVT1s that I am aware of are/were on Gasmata on the south coast of New Britain. There were dozens of them laying in the jungle, they had all been thoroughly stripped of all mechanicals and were rusted to the extent that they were beginning to collapse. That was around 40 years ago.
The only thing that I have appertaining to these vehicles is an original copy of TM 9-784 and it doesn't contain any images of the data plates.
Has the vehicle in the photos been recovered? If so what has become of it?
They are a fascinating first step in the development of amtracs.

I believe you emailed me a copy of the manual a few years ago, right there are no photo's of the data plates, these are the only pic I took at the time, I should have removed the plates, it did not take long for them to disappear a couple of days after the recovery, I can use the info I have would like to see if anyone has any pictures of all there data plates .

Gordon wasn't necessarily referring to Australians. For him up in Yellowknife, everything is "down under."

The LVT-1 is my favourite of the Amtracs and AFAIK the only one still not available in 1/35 (or any scale?) as an injection molded kit.

When you reproduce the instrument panel, are you going to put the wonderful 'THEALLIGATOR" logo on it such as it had?

Default logo

If I remember the alligator logo was made of brass and was bolted on to the instrument panel in the shape of the alligator, not sure how to reproduce it .
