Default CMP cartoons

Does anybody know of any others?

Better yet, are you and/or your CMP the subject of a cartoon?

There sure is a local cartoon about blitzes.

See the guy on the left....That's Salesman Bob, with his beloved Ambo on the day he got her. ( that's me on the right )

...And this is a cartoon that was drawn for the club magazine, by one of the old guys of the museum.

Smile CMP Cartoon

Well, not so much a cartoon.
Most of you reading will be familiar with my 'shedfullofshit' clearing sale earlier this year. About a dozen people helped me make it possible, so a mate of mine (Thanks Warrick!) put this sketch together which I copied & framed & gave to the helpers. It looks better than my crappy scanner shows...

Default LAD

For those not familier with the "LAD", it stands for "Light Aid Detachment". A basic workshop facility, that undertakes repairs up to four hours duration.

Default Blitz cartoon

I have just remembered a Blitz cartoon that I was depicted in. Some of the Australian members will know of Warren Brown, cartoonist to the Daily Telegraph in Sydney. In 1995, a big MV event took place out there, called Back To The Track. This cartoon by Warren, is of an incident that he was involved in......he was actually driving the yellow Ford F60 that day, as myself and Dave Brown were convoy controlling, he careered around a turn off nearly mowing us down

Default Another one

I can't recall where I found this one, but it looks to be of a series called "The Cam-pains of Benny Boob" by Norris (??). It is a scan of a low res screen shot, so the quality is not there.

In the last panel the writing states: "Up, up and away. Hi-Ho Benny, that's what comes from jacking up a truck and forgetting to chock the wheels. Engaging the transmission and front drive, setting the handbrake and properly placing the jack would be smart procedure too. Especially if you have to jack on a slope."

Len Norris was a political cartoonist who did cartoons for the Vancouver Sun newspaper for 38 years. During the war years he was Capt LM Norris RCEME, as well as being editor of CAM (Canadian Army Maintenance) magazine.

Post Latest Artwork from Ganmain

OK here's the story behind the drawing below.
I have two boys, Sidney (Sid) and Errol (Spud). Sid is 7, Spud came along 2 years later.
One evening a couple of weeks ago I came home from work to find the boys watching the recently aquired "Year of the Carrier". Below is an example of his artwork that has been produced pretty much daily since.
His teacher had no idea what a "carrier" is. She is still not sure buut knows it is NOT a "tank"...

Smile Transformers

5 years later...
The fore-mentioned Sid is now 12 and his artwork continues to improve.
I am sure a lot of readers here would be familiar with the "Transformers" series of films. Well Sid just entered a competition in a magazine ("Mania") to design your own Transformer...
Well, he got down to work. Behold! Autobot "RUSTY"

Not really a cartoon - but I just put this up on the softskin forum! This is an illustration I did today of my C60X - I know - it has a Studebaker GS body - but it was a bit of fun to do. The truck was ex-RAAF - a tanker we think - but I just had a go at trying to paint it in an Airfix box cover style. The Blitz, the Marsden Matting and the Zeros were hand painted and the background I made in photoshop - cheers Warren.

I have to chuckle at the thought of two of my creations being the inspiration!

Hey Chris, you didn't realise the extra functions that Keith built in to your truck? This would explain the AU$5.7million price tag. Just don't press the big red button while driving!!
And no, I haven't seen the third installment yet. Planning to this Thursday.
The 2nd one gets better with subsequent viewings, the kids have it on DVD and I recon I've seen most of it a dozen times!
Autobots! Roll out!
