Austin K6 - urgent sale!
Urgent sale! Partly restored Austin K6 - see photos and contact details in the link below. Located in the Netherlands.
Priced to sell quickly as it has to be removed from the premises where it is currently stored. If it does not sell very soon it will be scrapped. First one who shows up with transport and cash will secure the deal. No connection to the seller, sharing here in an effort to prevent it from being scrapped. https://www.generaaltjes.nl/Adverten...-gerestaureerd

I have a soft spot for the Austin K6 Breakdown Gantry trucks. When I worked in an army workshops, we restored two of these for the REME Museum. Later in life I was instrumental in encouraging a friend to buy one from up in Cheshire, and I did a lot of work on it for him, he then went on to buy a K6 Coles Crane as well.
Good luck to the new owner of this one.

Richard,
Those K6 gantry trucks were pulled out for the REME wartime weekend back in May. They still look great, a testament to your work. I only wish they would drive them rather than shunt them everywhere. My mate brought his K6 gantry truck too, which he’s just bought and does drive. He’s having problems with the rear axle getting very hot, any thoughts? Tom

That is good to know the REME K6 is still going well, it was restored around 1989. I have driven it to and from several shows back in the 90's. Re. your mate's K6 rear axles, it is very important to have the correct oil in them as they are worm and pinion, with a bronze pinion gear. It must be SAE140 gear oil in there. Do not use an EP oil as it will damage the bronze components. regards, Richard
