Hi Robin

sorry to hear you won't make it out! We will take lots of pictures and video. We are going to be revealing our latest acquisition, definitely the only one in private hands in Canada so it will be worth a visit for armour fans.

John

Hello all

just wanted to do an after action report for our first ever military vehicle event. I am busy going through photos and video and will be posting some here as well as our event page which I will post a link to.

In the interest of brevity and the report to follow, suffice it to say it was a big success in our eyes, we could not be happier. Thanks to all that participated, attended and assisted. I will be naming names as well as how we did for our chosen charity, Military Minds Inc.

Best Regards
John

Ok Still waiting for the best photos, but since this is now getting a bit long in the tooth I thought I would at least thank the folks who made it worthwhile.

Saturday the 7th began with a an overcast sky and the threat of rain, as of 9am we had not seen one visitor or one vehicle. When the food truck pulled in at 930AM it was looking a smidge sparse. I could tell by the guys look that if the situation didn't improve dramatically then we would have a lot of hot dogs to eat!

Fortunately soon after the food truck rolled in the vehicles started coming around the corner, it almost brought a tear to my eye. A column of vehicles lead by Western Command boss, Harry Moon circled the field and the show was on.

I have to say the turnout defied expectations, we had a great mix of people who had been touched by our short media blitz as well as plenty who just wandered in to see the vehicles.

Scott Casey and his wife Leslie, from Military Minds Inc., Our chosen charity for the event, arrived on their bikes and spent a few hours explaining what they do to raise awareness of PTSD as well as pair veterans with the resources they need to combat the condition. Having just returned from a cross country motorcycle rally (the Rolling Barrage) we were thrilled they were able to attend. And we were able to raise $2500 for the charity in the space of a few short hours, we can not thank the people who supported the charity with such enthusiasm, enough.

As for food we had one of the lower mainland's premier food trucks "Dogs and Roses" custom gourmet hot dogs and sides that were just incredible, there were certainly a fair number of folks who thought that was the best hot dog ever...and the prime rib dog...incredible. The boys from the food truck Alen and Daryl were so gracious, they never charged any minimums or travel time, and they donated all the volunteers meals for free just to support the veterans, outstanding!

As for the volunteers, I can't thank them all enough, without them it would have not been possible, they kept order, collected donations, gave countless tours of vehicles and generally kept the event functioning. We definitely missed the presence of Mark Fleming from Blue Leader Services and his armor, but he was tied up readying himself and his men for the funeral of one of their troop mates, even so he had volunteered himself to teach our raffle grand prize, a 90min driving lesson in a Centurion! Thanks so much.

At 3pm-ish Trooper Steve Drane, son of actual WW2 Canadian tank driver, Bill Drane, fired up our well worn M4A3 and sent Hitler to his final reward by crushing the Reichstag with the Fuhrer inside! (Reichstag always seemed bigger in photos, oh well)

Around 430-530pm most people had filtered out and the cleanup began...but amazingly there was very little to cleanup, folks had been very respectful and the amount of garbage that didn't make it into the can was negligible.

Anyway will post some photos over the next few days, but thank you so much to all who made the day a great success, this includes the following, and If I forgot to mention you, I am sorry, the old mind aint what it used to be.

Special thanks:
Crazy Hair, James Jope, Steve Drane, Rick and Jesse Rice, Brent and Carrie from Lumpys Lowbed, "the Big Deal",, Joey, Scott and Leslie from Military Minds Inc. Harry Moon and Western Command, , the boys from IMS, Blue Leader Services, The findologist, Old Skool Transport, Horsepower Horse Transport, Dogs and Roses, and many more

John; Congratulations to you and your team for hosting such a successful event (on what seems like a moments notice). A great contribution to the charity, and looks like a lot of fun was had by all. Well done.

Thanks Wayne, was quite an undertaking for even the event we put on, I have greater respect for the folks who put on real events, must be an incredible amount of work! All in all the day went well and we are continuing to collect donations for the charity!
