Default wanted M38A1 Tub

Hello Folks

I am looking for a decent Late style M38A1 Tub. No rust, no DND patches etc.

I already have an original Swiss Cheese Patched body of my own. Thanks

Will settle for an earlier tub if i have to and it is the right price and in the right condition.

Thanks

Eric

Default M38A1 parts in Ottawa

There is a fellow in Ottawa who listed M38A1 parts on usedottawa.com 15 months ago. Just recently I contacted him, and tried to get him re-motivated to sell some parts. The jeep is in pieces at his cottage. He may have everything that he'd sell as a package. Between us we might find what we are looking for.

Default need a good M38A1 body only

Hello Terry

I have everything i need as my jeep is currently up and running. But i do need to replace the body as it is falling apart and beyond restoration.

I know who you are talking about and have seen photos of his rusted jeep body.

Thanks
Eric

Default M38A1 Tub

Hello Terry

I hope we were talking about the same guy, otherwise i missed out.

I do appreciate the heads up.

The photos i received were taken at a cottage and the body was no better than the one i have. He was also working on an M38.

I do know of a very nice M38A1 which we can get a tub and parts from. The owner is out of the county for another 6 months and won't notice it until he gets back, eh Clive? Don't worry Don is guarding it with his two ankle biters.

Are you looking for anything in particular for your M38A1? I have a few contacts around.

Thanks
Eric

There are a few body tubs out here in the Manitoba surplus scrapyard. Some have accident damage, others the usual dents and cracking. Bit of a long drive from Southern Ontario mind you.

Default Road trip

Well, not really for a brave soul in a snowmobile suit driving a running M38A1 chassis with a gas tank and a lawn chair, some 48hr trip permits, and a back pack full of tools. Except for the absence of a beer holder, this is almost everything needed for a road trip! On the bright side, think of the high mileage rates you'd get with no slipstream and negligible wind resistence.

On the other hand, there are internet photos of just about everything lashed to the roof of third-world passenger cars. Why not an M38A1 body (I hate the word 'tub') cargo strapped to the roof of Eric's family sedan?

Everyone remember - I own more guns than all of you combined!!! Actually, Once I saw Don's two dogs (either of which would have a hard time reaching as high as an ankle in order to bite it) I doubled my insurance policy. ;o)

Default M38A1 Body

Hello Folks

Thanks for the input.

Arizona is a liitle far for me to drive. Plus i do not want anything more than the Body. But it does sound temping. How much to ship to Ottawa? Just the tub (and fenders).

Yes i know all about the dealers here in Ontario. I am looking for an original body. I already have a repro tub as a back up, which i would be happy to sell if i do ever find a good body. It will do but i will have to change the cowl and the tailgate to make it work with the original parts and look decent.

Glad you are still alove and kicking Clive.

Thanks
Eric

Default M38A1 TUB still wanted

Hello Folks

I guess i am expanding my search to somehwere i can ship from at a reasonable cost.

Still looking for an original M38A1 Body tub (Latch down battery cover model if possible) with no patches, rust or major damage, chassis not needed but might consider if possible to transport (Most carriers will not transport vehicles unless they are driveable. The body alone makes it easier to ship.)

Plus i do not want to import a vehicle if coming from the USA, just parts.

Putting the body on the roof of the car sounds adventurous. Now if i had the seats mounted in it and a steering mechanism. Maybe Geoff could sit in it and pretend that he is driving. Imagine the looks he would get. Sounds like a Mr Bean episode.

Thanks
Eric
