Default What is it No 677?

This Scope has appeared on Ebay as item 310170683746. Any clues as to it's application?
The unusual feature is the two ferrules or rings which appear to clamp over a tube or hollow part of the mounting. A friend has suggested it may be to pass through a mantlet of a turret of an AFV. Possibly?

Or, possibly, inside the gun barrel for boresighting?
