Default Aust. Wireless Remote info.

A mate turned up with this at Corowa on the weekend, it kept us guessing at it's age and use all weekend. Many ideas were floated with input from all passer-by's, my favourite being the interface between telecommunication and radio systems. However, in reality no one really knew, so any information would be gratefully received.

Rich.

Hi Richard

Its a remote unit for the 153 set - late WW2

I've never seen a 153 set . The 153 set was made in small numbers by AWA , it was a larger transmitter . The receiver for it , the 8c , I did have one years ago

All made by AWA .

BTW I think the sets are late WW2, not 1950 but not sure. I did have a manual for the 153 set .

quote "Not shown is a curious cylinder housing the operating controls and mounted with the plugs and sockets for the interconnections between the various items."

Thanks Mike, thought you would be one of the few able to help.
Hard to say if many were made, but as this is serial N0.26, I assume that there were at least 25 others.
The unit is sealed when closed up, and would be quite waterproof, to the point that it would appear to be able to float, this would tie in with the 153 set shown in its waterproof case.
I have passed on your reply on to the current owner, now he knows what it is he can decide what to do with it.
Best Regards
Rich.
