I had always thought that an indicator of a Canadian Ferret was SMP style lighting.
I must, however, confess that I am no expert on these beasties. j |

My money says they are both ex-Canadian. The one still has the old whitish/tan and black paint job on the back half, both have the square front/side windows by the driver, indicative of an early mk1 (found in both Canadian and Australian contract ferrets, not so much if at all in British ferrets) and as Jason points out, the unofficial Canadian change to SMP lighting. They also have the rear M-series jerry can holders (or the holes for them on the second ferret), along with footman loops welded to the top of the area for the j-can straps. The blocks are welded onto the back left corner for the 5 pound ansul dry chem extinguisher, which replaced the Brit style in Cdn service. One of the Canadian extinguisher brackets can be seen in the photos of parts, along with a number of the parts are packaged in the typical Cdn 25COD packaging of that era.
The turret is, I believe purely fantasy, and possible a built up mk2 turret. Depending how bad the power trains are, the price isn't bad for a pair of them, and close to the Cdn border too. |

Two is too much for me
I was hoping to buy one of these.
I spoke to the owner at length and he wants rid of both of them in one shot. He is a reasonable chap, knows they are both Canadian vehicles and had has other hardware on the way which is why he wants to liquidate them to fund that operation. The pair have not run for a few years but have been tarped during that time, the parts for both of them are in various boxes and loose. Hence buying the pair would enable someone to sort throught the various bits and asign them to the needy vehicle. That would be the best way. I have room, time, and budget for one. I did have thoughts of going out on a limb for both and going into debt in the hopes of passing on the other one at cost. I have a bit of a rapport with the seller and some goodwill has been extended to me because of my genuineness and knowledge of the vehicles. So there you have it, any interested parties please feel free to contact me. rgds Robin |

When do we see the pictures
Hi
There is a common saying in our MV Club, one MV is never enough. So when do we get two see the picture of your new acquisitions? And how many boxes did they come in? Did you get the supper jigsaw puzzle with 1000s of pieces or the junior puzzle with only a few hundred loose parts? Cheers Phil

Phil,
here is the thread at the time. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=13884 I was just trying to close this thread so anyone searching later could see it was endex. One is being torn apart, slowly by me. The other is potentially a trade, I am waiting patiently for that to happen. I have received offers but at the moment I will wait to see the trade fall through before I really offer it for sale. There was a lot of confusion at the outset as to what their fate was to be. I also have a thread running here over on HMVF which you should look at as there have been some developments. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread...t-Call-Sign-31 Robin |
