Hi Noel,

Great to see some shots of the movie and I guess the Morrises look pretty convincing on screen in the background.

I believe the Commer in your first shot is the one that visited Holland during the liberation celebrations of 1995! Great truck!

Don't get your hopes up!!!!

They're film prop fakes, anyone with a real MC wouldn't allow any film company to abuse them as they usually do, especially to be half buried in sand!

Very nice - by the way the vehicle closest to the camera in the first photo is a Commer Q2

Thanks Hanno.

It is good to see that they are putting so much effort in replicating the right atmosphere.

Judging from the pictures, they have built quite some Morris mockups, but it even looks like some of them are "runners", maybe based on Land Rover components?

Definitely, I think the movie is based on a love story so don't know how much of the Dunkirk set will be featured, but it'll be worth seeing just for those scenes! Great selection of vehicles, and surprised to see all the effort they've gone into, nowdays it wouldn't surprise me if it was full of GMC 6x6s instead of Morris's!

Default It's all gone now

Filming lasted for 4 days [21 to 24 August] and everything in Redcar is just about back the way it was. Great shame really - it looked much better as a film set and building the set was very interesting to observe. There were about 1000 local extras recruited (I couldn't get off work ) and many of them have put photos on the web - those linked by Hano are the best I've seen so far.
My photos of the vehicles are at : http://community.webshots.com/user/NoelBurgess

The replica MCC pickups all seemed to be able to roll and had steering and were mostly made from plywood with some sheet metal on the front end. There were also to replica "french" lorries but everything else seemed to be the real thing as far as I could see. I believe some (3.7AA, searchlight & generator, Matador and more) came from Newcastle Vehicle Museum - WWW.military-museum.org.uk

Dunkirk is only one episode in the film and I get the impression it will involve 15 to 20 min. of the film - the rest not involving a military theme

Back in 1940 the Germans thought the Dunkirk beach was worth filming, too!

Here are some pictures of these M-C props, found on a MilWeb ad of the company who built them: http://www.milweb.net/dealers/trader/krus/index.htm
