Air Raid 1940 Cuckmere Valley/Seaford Sussex UK
During 1940 a Canadian Regiment was billeted in bell tents at Seaford Sussex. Unfortunately this area was used by the German airforce as a route through the south downs and would fly in low. Subsequently the regiment was wiped out but no records appear to be available. A local member of the Home Guard would lay poppies in the area as a memorial to those who died and in 2006 a permanent memorial was errected. But still no real information is known about the tragedy. Does any one know which Canadian Regiments were in the Seaford area during 1940?
Thanks. Pam |

Pam,
Could I presume that there was nothing in the media reported at the time because of what we now call "OPSEC"? R |
