Hey All

I am doing a memorial for my step-dads dad and need some elaboration on some info. His discharge papers show he was in the RCASC Tfd R.C.A. and I was told that he was a crew member in a tank where his crew were all killed but he was injured to the point that he was discharged because he was "unable to meet the required military fitness standards" in 1946.

I was given a photo that shows him in a navy uniform with HMCS on the cap, does any one know what the Tfd stands for? I know what the RCASC is and pretty sure I know what the RCS is just never seen the Tfd part before.

I have heard of RCAF and RCN personnel transferred to the Army to meet manpower needs. This may have been the case with your dad.

Default Update

Hey Guys

Ok, so I was given an update regarding my Stepdad's father, it would appear that he was wounded in his tank and sent home via ship, when wounded his cloths were destroyed, he needed something to wear as strolling the ship in your birthday suit is frowned upon...lol, he was given the only cloths on hand that fit and they turned out to be......... a Navy uniform lol.

Gary

P.S. Thought I would add the pics of him in his "Navy Uniform"
