Default A few questions from a first timer...

First, how do I get the roof off?
It's badly damaged and I have a "new" roof to go on it. I've removed all the bolts I can find, both in the front, just above the windows, and inside the cab, but the damned thing won't budge. Not sure what I've missed but hopefully someone here can help.

Also, does anyone have plans for the seats?
I have the bottom plates that bolt to the floor, but no seats to go on them. If someone can point me to the direction of some plans, that would be great.

Thanks, and I'm sure I'll have more stupid questions for you all later!

Welcome to the Forum, Pedro!

MLU is a very broad source of infomation on a wide variety of topics, so sometimes you need to be a little specific on the info you are seeking.

So, which roof and seats are you talking about? The Chev or the Iltis?

Hammer and chisel works just as well on each....KIDDING!!!

Welcome aboard. If it's the CMP (as I hope, sorry for the bias) I can help. Oh, and I've discovered, rust is the best glue.

Yep, my bad.
The CMP. I had to sell the Iltis when I blew the clutch on it. Sad to see her go after 10 years of faithful service, but I couldn't afford the new clutch or the body work.
Of course now I could... So, I'm working on the Chevy instead.

I was actually going to try that (the hammer/chisel route) glad I didn't.
Yes, it's the CMP.

I did my roof (a Ford, but I was told the roof came from a Chevy) a couple of years ago. A large tree limb had fallen on it.

There's a few locating pins in between the bolts which are a pretty tight fit. Some rust and maybe some deformation can make those lock in place. I didn't go the hammer and chisel route, but I did use a pretty big pry bar, beside where the pins are located. I was replacing the windshield frame with NOS and having the back wall reskinned at the same time, so I wasn't too worried about a little damage to the mating parts.

It is only 15 bolts - nine in the back, six in the front.

Default Removal

Sometimes the rubber anti-squeak strips on the brow and rear can become pretty adhesive with age too. The front part has a pair of locating dowels as well but they shouldn't be a problem.
