Default M38A1CDN2 Front Bumper Length

Wondering if anyone knows exactly how long an M38A1CDN2 front bumper is supposed to be? Mine appears to have a US or after-market bumper, and I would like to get it cut down to the proper size. If anyone has some bumper "close-up" photos, that would also be helpful.

Mike

My wife, has a 1967 M38A1 Cdn and right now it is in the garage where we are working on it. I will measure it and send you the info. Will try to get piactures but our bumper has a tow rope coiled around it. Gilles

Default M38A1CDN2 frt bumper picture

Hi Mike,

Saw this M38A1 CDN2 parked in front of the 12Th Service battlion in Richmond this year and snapped a few photos. You can get an idea for what you need, but sorry I don't have the measurments. Enjoy

Ha ha - 12 Service is trying to pull a fast one! That vehicle isn't an M38A1 at all - it's a civilian CJ7! Could be one of the ones purchased for the Reserves as a stopgap, but definitely not an M38A1! In fact, the "85" in front of the CFR all but confirms that it was one of the stopgap CJ7s. Probably by 2000 there was nobody left at the unit who remembered the difference.

Thanks for the pics, though!

Mike

Default M38a1 cdn 2

Mike, your correct I was mistaken I just remembered taking these photo's and when I saw your post I thought of this vehicle. My M38A1 1953 has the short bumper 54 1/4 long and I think you need the longer version approx 10 in longer, but may want to check as I was wrong before.
Well the pictures looked good anyway....

Thumbs up bumper length??

Hi Mike: I've got a 67 CDN2 sitting in the driveway. If you want, send me your email address and I'll send you pictures and measurements. My email address is...rob.mor@shaw.ca. I WOULD put it on the forum but I am somewhat a "putz" when it comes to that. Apologies to Geoff! Regards....Robert

I have two bumpers to measure. The M38A1 CDN3 has a bumper that is 54" long. With the CDN2 parts Jeep was a front bumper 46" long. The last owner had a CDN1 in the yard, and this part may be his take-off replacement. It you are unhappy with the one you've got, take it as a sample to the local steel dealer. It looks like rather ordinary 4" U-channel, and the counterman should be able to find catalogue stock for you.
