I had a request over on the artillery section for shots of the two REL Radar trailers located here in Shilo.

Thanks Rob These may be the only examples of these radar cabins on display anywhere in the world ,that are in such good condition. The parabolic antenna for the M-33 Fire control radar ( M-242 trailer) was on the museum site back in 2006, next to the APF cabin... see attached

Yes, it is still around. I took it down to the sandblasting/painting establishment back in July. It must still be in progress.
One of the trailers was getting into a rather poor condition. They were insulated with a waxy cardboard honeycomb type insulation which retained water and caused the sides to rust a bit. The sandblast paint shop was able to correct the problem. |
