Default These are obviously from an Essex Regiment.

There should be other footage somewhere as I have also seen a carrier bearing the name Colchester.

Cheers

Default Not exactly You Tube - better than a new thread

Hello All,

I found a link from the site Southern Ontario Military Muster that shows some footage of couple of CMP's that have been restored in Canada. It is called
Restoring Glory - featuring Geoff Bottoms and Mike Timoshyk's restored Ford Army trucks in Windsor, Ont.

http://www.militarymuster.org/video_...h/video_01.htm

Enjoy

Sorry Carrier people I just realised this old thread was in your section and not the soft skin one - I have asked the moderators to shift it - my apologies

Kind Regards
Lionel

Default Blitz Mail Run - something most of would like to try

Hi Scott

Your post of the The Bush Trucker Man in his Chevy Blitz

Youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZQ1mkCvQ8c is one of those really goods ones.

The trip is one of those that I suspect most of us would love to try in our CMPs with that goes our envy for those who get to do it.

Thanks for sharing the site.

Cheers Phil

Hi Scott

That was a great post. It bought back so many good memories of the Australian Outback not many have seen. I would love to have been on that trip with the Blitz and knowing how hard those old guys did the mail run years ago. I last did the trip with a bunch of mates about 10 years ago and I did it in my Pajero. Thanks for the memories.

Cheers

Tony

Default Jeff Fullwood

I've met Jeff several times, a great bloke. First time I saw his blitz was at the 50th anniversary of the Back of Beyond in Marree where we played the movie in 2004.

I, along with a couple of collaborators made the documentary "Last Mail from Birdsville - the story of Tom Kruse" which is available as part of the Back of Beyond collection from the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Not CMPs but a 1936 film with some very interesting footage of casting, engine building, in fact the whole car.

Hi Keith

Love old manufacturing movies - But think about what the safety boys would say. Being a Chevy person, I particularly enjoy the old GM stuff.

But what caught my eye right off the bat, was the guys in the machine shop wearing neck ties. Yes, it was the fashion but really. My dad was an electrical engineer but worked on a lot of electro/mechanical equipment. I know I never saw him with a regular tie always wore clip-on bow ties.

When I was running an engineering project we had an old school machinist in charge of the machine shop, that old guy would hit of the power kill buttons in the shop that would stop all motors every-time some suit wearing a tie would walk into the shop. Don't really know if he was that safety conscious or just saw visitors to his shop as being a waste of time.

Cheers Phil
