Default Sig satchel for sale

This satchel is in unissued condition but unlike the usual P'37 khaki color it is a green color webbing. Regardless, it is the more desirable early style and is quite stiff. Not sure who used this particular example or where it was made but it is an excellent example. I'm asking $25.00 plus postage. If interested please email me at s_forth at yahoo.com

What you have there my friend is the Satchel, Signals to carry the headphones and microphone for either the Number 18 or 38 Wireless sets. You'll notice the flap is attached further back than usual to allow the cord to remain attached to the wireless set and still be closed to protect the headset and microphone. Mine has a ZA number of either 11047? or 11847? I can't quite make out whether it's an 8 or 0. My carrying strap is slightly different than yours...it has three loops, one with a buckle, sewn onto the one side a la the Field telephone carrying strap. The strap is made by Mills Equipment Co., no date, but is marked YA 1532. Perhaps one of our resident experts (Bruce?) could shed further light on this.

There's a good article on signal satchels on the WS19 website at
http://www.qsl.net/ve3bdb/satchel.html

The carrying strap with the loops is commonly used with telephone sets. The loop holds the ground spike.

JD, send me your shopping list. I'm going to thin the herd.

Bruce, is it correct to assume that any pieces of kit with the prefix ZA are for wireless communications and any pieces of kit with the prefix YA are for land line communications? I have a Fullerphone marked YA 6916 and it's carrying strap is also marked with the prefix YA. Derek.

YA is the prefix for line stores and ZA is the prefix for wireless stores.

YA is also used for microphone capsules that can be used for wireless. You will also see Z,Z1, ZAA (ZAA is Aussie stuff).

I may still have it, I'm not sure because I am a long ways away from home at the moment and won't be able to check until May sometime. Sorry.

Yes, it is definitely a sigs satchel, but it is made of different materials than standard 37 pattern web.
