Default US Army Hudson Crank Duster mystery thing

Hello All,

Is there someone who can tell me what this is?
Seems to be a piece of American engineering of which there is no European equivalent.
At least, I have never seen a look-alike.

Ebay item 150222554762.

http://cgi.ebay.com/US-ARMY-CRANK-DU...QQcmdZViewItem

Best regards,

Marco

It looks like it would be an insecticide duster to get at the creepy crawlies in hard to get places.

Heres a photo of an Australian soldier in Lae, Papua New Guinea using what looks to be a Hudson Duster. These units were used for the control of malaria. You can see his right hand cranking the handle and the dischard tube end piece has been removed.
