Default Introduction

Hello all on MLU,

Have been lurking on here for several years, but the time has come to make first post!

After very nearly buying a HUW about 4 years ago, I've just added a 1943 Cab 13 Chevrolet C60s Wrecker to the "fleet"...so now the time seems right.

I'll post separately about the new truck with some photos but this first post is more as an introduction.

I live in Surrey, Uk with the family but with close connections to the Netherlands (my in-laws were both Dutch). I've been involved with old vehicles for 35 years (started when I was farming) and military vehicles for last 20 years. I'm a member of IMPS and MVT.

Have had a 1944 Willys for 11 years, marked as Guarded Armoured as they liberated my father-in-law in Sept 1944. I also have a small collection of unusual British 10cwt trailers which I have fully restored (for anyone interested in these there is a detailed blog of two of the restorations at:
http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread...ration-Project)

The Jeep has been great and I've had some fantastic trips with it, including to Monte Cassino/Anzio, Guernsey Liberation Tour, numerous IMPS "Bethune/Souchez" and D-Day Commemorations to Normandy including a great tour this year with parades in Port-en-Bessin and Bayeux. I've even taken it to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen!

BUT, I've been looking for another "interesting" MV for some time, and as some of my friends have CMPs I hope the Chev will fill the gap.

While I know a reasonable amount about British Lightweight trailers, I'm a novice owner on CMP's ....but am keen to learn, so please be patient if I ask the obvious questions!

Almost forgot, also have restored an original BSA folding bike. My children can ride it, but I'm too big.

Thanks

John

Default Welcome to the fun

Hi John

There is a warning that comes with CMPs they are habit forming and you may discover you suddenly discover an urge to have more than one.

As to worrying about asking "obvious questions!" that's how the rest of us remember what we know, as you probably have seen on MLU a simple question may spark a number of responses taking the thread in interesting directions, so ask away.

Cheers Phil

Thanks Phil,

Yes, I've seen that in others, but suspect my wife will try to curb the habit!
